Advertising Accuracy!
Have you ever wondered how advertising could be so accurate or relatable to your seemingly most personal desires or "needs"? If you haven't, then you probably live under a rock. It is so easy for us to go through our day and see hundreds of ads, while only connect to a solid three on this level. Advertisers have to go through crazy long processes to create a commercial or poster or ad that can connect to people or catch attention in any way possible. Some ads are even disturbing or so annoying you die at the first sound of it, but companies do not care, as long as you notice or remember them. When we went over this in class and our teacher asked us to share the wildest ads we had ever seem, almost every hand popped up and people were able to share numerous encounters with ads, good or bad. In some cases we weren't even able to be able to name the product, but we had vivid images in our mind of the memorable ads exposed to our impressionable minds throughout the years. It has gotten so out of control that if someone brings up an ad that has especially stuck with us, we seem to have intense opinions and emotions surrounding it. How could we be so connected with something to materialistic and for lack of a better word, dumb? A group of people in the world got together and made that ad, with the sole purpose of us having this exact effect on us. I would like to explore deeper into the human mind and how we process the images we see, in order to be able to further examine the way focus groups are able to make such convincing ads. It blows my mind how accurate they are.
